Bad Hair Day

Hi, I'm Heather and I'm addicted to hair products. A lot of hair products. My basket overfloweth.

I'm at your mercy, Internets. I can't go green in the area of the hair products. I've tried several greenish shampoos and conditioners and they just leave me ugly. Like, frizzy and Frankenstein ugly. I haven't even attempted to change in my old hair styling products for the green version because I'm scared.

Yes, I said it. I'm scared. I don't like to be ugly, frizzy and Frankenstein.

Come on, you know you don't like it either.

This is where I turn to you. For the love of all things healthy and green, please tell me if you have a product that you use and love. For the record, I have naturally curly and dry hair. I straighten it a couple of times a week. Help me.

Fine thin hair is me... sorry no help to you here - but I'll trade you. I would love curls, especially on those humid days. My hair goes from straight to straighter and one time I got all dolled up for a wedding. Took a shower, blow dried and set my hair. As we were getting read to leave, it burst from the heavens. I went to the wedding ceremony and came out and caught myself in the mirror. 1/2 of my head had some curl and the other 1/2 had straight hair and let me tell you, it wasn't pretty.

Another time, I was getting ready for a party. I was staying at the St. Moritz Hotel on Central Park West, NYC. The hotel room was about the size of my bedroom now WITH the bathroom in it. (10 x 13 or smaller) I had to leave the hallway door open, as the more I blew dry my hair - the wetter it became.

sigh

My shampoos is rather green--it's Arbonne. It's stupid expensive, and I don't know if I'll buy it again, but it's supposed to be better for your hair (like all things Arbonne). It works well--I have thick, wavey, drier hair. Other than that, I have no alternative products--keep us posted if you find some!!!

Sorry, I'm no help. But it is nice to meet another hair obsessed woman - mine's prone to the freaky frizzies too. I love my products!

Try Aubrey Organics Rose Mosqueta Shampoo and Conditioner. I have curly hair, too, and I really like these products.

I haven't found a styling product that I love, but I'm currently using a spray-in thing from Beauty Without Cruelty. I can't decide if I don't like the product or if I just really need a haircut!! probably the latter...

You should try Jason products or Purology. Both work really well and are some-what gren. PUreology has a more extensive stylin gline, but the Jason shampoo and conditioner is nice and much less expensive!

Take a look at Aveda ... GREAT STUFF and ecological and all that sort of thing.

Pretty cha-ching, but I love the styling foam and the Shampure.

I can only help you if you want hair "stuff" advice that is non-green. I dare not switch - it could/most likely would be ugly. ;)

I use Redkin All Soft shampoo and conditioner, but if your hair is thick ( like mine is!!) you could use Smooth Down - that one rocks!
As for straightening - which I do also - Straight by Bumble and Bumble pretty much rocks my world. You only did the smallest amount and it leaves hair soft!!! shiny and smooth. Just makes sure you work it in really good.
IF you need help finding Bumble products - you can look up B&B and see about locations. I am certain there would be a salon that carries it around you.

If you have anymore questions ask away!! :)

bioinfusion natura'ls rosemary mint shampoo is working fabulous! My hair is light and more manageable. After three days, I noticed a difference. I will probably use this from now on.

Vinegar. I shampoo my hair with regular shampoo--I know, I know, but I'm getting there! I then just pour regular vinegar on it all, then rinse thoroughly. Keep it out of your eyes and rinse well. There is no odor left behind and I can actually comb through my wavy/frizzy/straight in places long hair better than after using a bazillion other conditioners.

Bonus-it's less than $2 a gallon. I just pour the vinegar from the big jug into an old shampoo bottle that I keep in the shower. Works for me! I've been using this exclusively since January and my hair is better than ever. I've stopped using all the other stuff in the basket underr my sink and have thrown most of them out. Good luck!
